    The Royal Hawaiian Mint's fortieth anniversary was commemorated with a three piece Hawaiian Mint Token Set with Kamehameha, Madame Pele and Captain Cook. The token set consists of three token redeemable in gold weights: 1) Earth obverse with 1976 Ahualoa Land Bank and 1/4 (one quarter gram of gold) inner die reverse; 2) Eden obverse with Volcano Island Bank and 1/10 (one tenth gram of gold) inner die reverse dated 1977 and 3) Atlantis obverse with Kona Coast Bank and 1/100 (one hundredth gram of gold) inner die reverse dated 1978. The Token Set is part of the denomination issue and unique because the three pieces were struck from the original 1976, 1977 and 1978 dies that were hand engraved at the actual 21mm die size with interchangeable inner dies and minted on special copper piedforts that are extra thick planchets. The Earth, Eden and Atlantis designs tell a story with graphic symbols that symbolize the ideals of perfection in the cosmos. The three obverses features: 1) Kamehameha who was blessed in battle by Madame Pele, the Volcano Goddess, discussed military strategy with Captain Cook and proved to be a true father of his people. 2) Madame Pele who is Hawaii’s Volcano Goddess and resides in Kilauea in the world's most active volcano and Mauna Loa, the world's largest volcano. 3) Captain James Cook, who led three great voyages to the Pacific Ocean, charted every major landfall, spoke Polynesian and discovered Hawaii on January 20, 1778.
