In 1983, the Elks held their state convention at the Kona Elks Club on the Big Island of Hawaii. So with all the publicity about Hawaii’s first mint just up "mauka" (up the mountain) from the Kona Coast, the Kona Elks contacted the Mint to produce a commemorative for the convention. BVNH answered the call and produced a 39mm bronze medal that originally had a ribbon so it could be worn. This issue was not sold publicly. NOT PREVIUOSLY OFFERED FOR SALE
