Quick Overview

The Kamehameha Schools Graduating Class of 1997 liked the Class Coin of 1995 and commissioned the Mint to produce a 1997 Class Coin. Again after much discussion and many meeting with members of the Senior Class and their parents, the Mint finalized the plans for a 39mm one ounce .999 fine silver coin that was only available to members of the Class of 97.

The Class representatives choose the Kamehameha statue that was featured on the 1987 KS/BE 100th anniversary commemorative for the obverse that featured IMUA, (FORWARD) the school motto, HAWAII and the 1997 date. The reverse featured one of the classic Hawaiian quilt designs for the central theme and the ledged: GRADUATING CLASS OF 1997, HONOLULU, HAWAII. The Class Coin was very popular and reserved for only members of the Graduating Class of 1995.
