The 1987 Pauahi Coin was dedicated to Mrs. Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the founder of The Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate who willed her estate for "a school for boys and a school for girls " to teach her native Hawaiian people in the best tradition of the Christian religion.
